Since its move to new “green” offices six months ago, technology company 121 Systems has taken on two new staff and plans to employ two more after winning several contracts including PepsiCo UK & Ireland.
The company, which already has an international client base including Office Depot, Iron Mountain and Dominoes Pizza, specialises in saving companies’ fuel bills by using cutting edge software to optimise routes and reduce mileage, lowering customers’ carbon footprints.
It moved into a 1,771 sq ft suite at No.1 Nottingham Science Park in May, providing room to expand and better transport links than its previous location in Nottingham.
“Growing awareness of the effects of carbon emissions has promoted sustainable practices in the transportation network,” said Chris Sisson, managing director of 121 Systems.
“Most companies using vehicles to provide goods or services have lots of room to increase efficiencies by driving fewer miles, reducing idle time and using less fuel. Making these adjustments can have a major impact on decreasing emissions and bottom-line expenses.”
One of the company’s projects is lowering carbon footprints by using daily route planning tools in conjunction with GPS despatch tracking to reduce unnecessary miles.
121 Systems customer Biffa Waste recently implemented Roadnet Transportation Suite to balance routes, reducing fuel and lowering vehicle costs.
The technology company has also been working with a fellow tenant at No.1 Nottingham Science Park, Oegen, on an order engine called Net Scheduler.
121 Systems, which has achieved top international partner status with global parcel service company UPS, is attending the Logistics Link south show in February.
